Barry Latham retires from Care Forum Wales after 13 years service

Barry Latham, senior policy advisor for Care Forum Wales retired in April after 13 years’ service with Care Forum Wales.

Mr Latham, from Abergele won the Lifetime Achievement Award at last year’s Wales Care Awards in Cardiff. He started his working life as a chartered civil engineer.  He retired from local government after 20 years in 1996 and became a CFW policy adviser in Ocotober 1997.

"It’s been a very interesting and rewarding job," said Mr Latham. "I am a civil engineer by profession but I’ve had a lot more satisfaction out of this role."

Mario Kreft, honorary chief executive of Care Forum Wales, paid a heartfelt tribute to Mr Latham, thanking him for his "immense contribution" to the independent care sector in Wales. 

He said: "The detailed policy work that Barry did for us has played a vital role in supporting people in the front line of social care. We wish him and his wife Andrea a long and happy retirement."

Mr Latham plans to hitch up his caravan for some serious home and abroad touring in retirement – happy travels!
