Make sure your window restrictors comply with regulations: update

New guidelines on window restrictors were introduced by the Health and Safety Executive last
year – however some care providers who have NHS-funded clients have only recently received an NHS circular about these
guidelines.

CSSIW is applying the guidelines to all new
registrations but recommends that existing provisions consider the guidance as
part of their risk assessments. The guidance recommends that windows should be
restricted to an opening of 100 mm or less and that restrictors should only be
able to be disengaged using a special tool or key.
