Funded Nursing Care update

CFW is continuing discussions with local health boards on Funded Nursing Care (FNC) fees. 

The health board chief executives’ report has recommended an increase of £18.05 with half backdated to April 2013 and half from April 2014. So far, the two health boards who’ve discussed the rates – Hywel Dda and Betsi Cadwaladr – have agreed to this but it is not yet clear whether there is any commitment to deal with all the remaining issues identified by Laing & Buisson in its report for the health boards. 

This is clearly unsatisfactory. As is the health boards’ proposal to introduce a national ‘continence supplies’ scheme without any consultation.

We expect the other health boards to be taking decisions at meetings in the next few weeks and we are aware some providers are taking legal action to push for these decisions to be agreed as an ‘interim’ decisions only, with a formal consultation to follow on the other matters, to conclude before April 2014.
