Free dementia awareness training event for CFW members – near Abergavenny

Dementia Awareness Training event  ** FREE FOR CARE FORUM WALES MEMBERS (or £35 per delegate for non-members) **

Stephen Ford, CFW’s lead on dementia care, will hold a seminar which is free for CFW members on November 12. Stephen Ford said: “Dementia training is essential for all care workers, nurses and managers working in any setting where they are likely to encounter people with the illness.

“This seminar will provide people with the latest information – and bust a few myths too,” he added.

The half-day event will take place at Penpergwn House, near Abergavenny from 9.30am-1.30pm.

Dementia awareness training topics

TOPICS TO INCLUDE:

  • Types and prevelance of dementia, plus progression of the dementia process
  • What helps (and what doesn’t) to make a different to service users’ lives and their families’ lives
  • Mythbusting: We will explore some commonly-held beliefs about dementia using roleplay and develop safe care interventions
