Book now for free workshop on preventing urinary catheter infection on December 3

A free roadshow on urinary catheter infection prevention aimed at nurses, including those working in healthcare and social care settings, will take place in Cardiff on December 3.

The event is being held as a result of a collaboration between the Infection Prevention Society and the British Association of Urological Nurses and it is supported by Public Health Wales.

  • The event is for ward nurses, community nurses, healthcare workers and anyone with an interest in reducing Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI).

What will the programme cover?

The programme will deal with many of the “grey” areas surrounding catherisation including:-

  • renewed emphasis on patient safety and quality
  • the care of people who need a catheter 
  • the event will bring delegates up to date with the current practice to reduce problems such as urinary tract infection and blockage
  • when it is appropriate to catheterise and when it is appropriate to consider alternatives to catheterisation
  • the patient experience will also be addressed as well as antimicrobial stewardship

Delegates attending will be invited to pose questions to an expert panel before the morning break, delegates can submit questions in advance of the conference through the online registration form.
