A north Wales hospice, St Kentigern Hospice in St Asaphy, Denbighshire, is running a pilot scheme offering an out-of-hours palliative care advice and help to nursing home staff across the region.

The hopsice has set up a dedicated phone line that qualified nursing staff from Conwy and Denbighshire (and across the rest of north Wales) can call out of working hours including on weekends and bank holidays.

St Kentigern nurses have expertise in palliative care will offer safe and non-judgmental advice* over the phone, for example they can give advice on pain management and other symptom control issues. They are also available if nursing home staff wish to discuss a situation before calling a GP’s out-of-hours service .
