One in four English care homes are unsafe

One in four care homes in England are unsafe according to the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England.

In a report issued by the CQC, poor leadership and staff shortages mean residents in a quarter of care homes are going weeks without being cleaned and are served dangerous levels of medication.

The report also reveals that a third of residential nursing homes are failing to provide safe levels of care.
