“Working with people – both our incredible staff and the individuals we support – is what it is all about.”

Bethan J Evans is the Chief Executive Officer of My Choice Healthcare Ltd.
Having worked in health and social care for over 30 years across local authority, non-profit, and private sectors, Bethan built My Choice Healthcare from scratch in 2019. Her executive vision, values-led leadership, and commitment to workforce recognition have earned her a nomination for the Outstanding Service Award at the Wales Care Awards 2026.
We asked Bethan about what motivates her in her role, and what this nomination means to her;
Tell us a bit about your role and what your day-to-day duties involve. As CEO, I lead My Choice Healthcare in strategic development, service delivery, operational performance, and growth. Having founded the company in 2019 and completed our first acquisition in 2020, I oversee our executive team to ensure our culture keeps staff and service users at the heart of everything we do.
What do you love most about your job? Working with people—both our incredible staff and the individuals we support. It is all about people. I privilege working alongside an executive team that is dedicated to making a positive difference every single day.
What is a standout moment in your career? Setting up My Choice Healthcare from day one remains my proudest achievement. Watching the organisation grow while embedding an ethical, supportive culture that genuinely values care staff has been deeply fulfilling.
What does this nomination mean to you? Initially, I felt a little uncomfortable, as I see it as my primary job to nominate and celebrate my team for awards! Secretly, though, I am humbled and delighted to be named a finalist alongside so many incredible care professionals.
Tell us a bit about your life outside the boardroom! I’m in my mid-50s, married, and have two adult children, Rachael and Dewi. I am also the proud grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren—John Henri (3), Ada (1), and Nima (9 months)!

“The work we do is so dynamic and depending on whichever challenge we are facing, no two days are ever the same! ”
Kate Louise Ackerley is the Executive Business Operations Manager at Pendine Park Care Organisation Ltd in Wrexham.
Over her 15-year tenure, 35-year-old Kate has spearheaded administrative, operational, and system transformations across the organisation. Her behind-the-scenes operational leadership has earned her a nomination for the Outstanding Service Award at the Wales Care Awards 2026.
We asked Kate about what motivates her in her role, and what this nomination means to her;
Tell us a bit about your role and what your day-to-day duties involve.
I lead a business operations team that works behind the scenes to support our care homes and departments. My role involves streamlining operational systems, improving contract management, navigating complex social care regulations, and ensuring our care facilities have the administrative structure needed to operate smoothly.
What do you love most about your job?
I love that every day is different and that I’m always learning something new. I’m naturally a problem solver, so I really enjoy taking something that isn’t working as well as it could and finding a way to make it simpler, clearer or more effective. Before starting on a project, I always ask myself “How can we improve this for the people using it?”
Is there a specific project or standout moment you are most proud of?
Redesigning our entire client contract framework. Previously, we had over 20 different contract variations depending on funding authorities and care tiers. I led a total overhaul, consolidating them into a single, transparent, and user-friendly contract that simplified processes for families and local authorities alike.
Admission into care can be an emotional and difficult time for families, so making the paperwork simpler and easier to understand meant they could spend less time worrying about contracts and more time focusing on their loved one’s care and wellbeing. That made the project particularly meaningful too
What does this nomination mean to you?
It was a complete shock! I’ve attended care awards for years to cheer on winning colleagues, so being named a finalist myself is surreal and deeply humbling. It highlights the vital role operational teams play in social care.
How do you spend your leisure time?
I’ve been married to my husband Richard for 15 years, and we have a cat named Molly. I love playing squash, walking, going to the theatre, and attending live sporting events.

“I feel lucky to be part of our residents’ lives, getting to know them as individuals and helping them build meaningful, happy routines.”
Tracey Roscoe is the Registered Manager at Mental Health Care (U.K.) Limited’s Avalon service in Rhyl.
Managing residential care for adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex mental health needs, 54-year-old Tracey has dedicated her career to providing safe, joyful, and person-centred support. Her long-standing commitment has been recognised with a nomination for the Outstanding Service Award at the Wales Care Awards 2026.
We asked Tracey about what motivates her in her role, and what this nomination means to her;
Tell us a bit about your role and day-to-day responsibilities.
I manage a residential facility for adults with complex support requirements. My day-to-day involves ensuring high-quality, person-centred care, managing staff teams, overseeing health and safety standards, and ensuring our residents live happy, safe, and active lives.
What do you love most about the job you do?
The people! No two days are ever the same. I feel lucky to be part of our residents’ lives, getting to know them as individuals, understanding what matters to them, and helping them build meaningful, happy routines.
I also love working alongside dedicated teams who genuinely care about making a difference. Seeing people supported to live happy, fulfilling lives and knowing that I’ve played a small part in that is what makes this work so special. It’s a role that constantly inspires me, and I still feel privileged to do it every day.
What does being nominated for this award mean to you?
It is incredibly special and makes me very proud. This nomination isn’t just about me. It reflects the wonderful people I’ve had the privilege of supporting, the families who have trusted me, and the amazing colleagues I’ve worked alongside throughout my career. I’ve been fortunate to be part of so many special moments and to see people achieve things that are important to them. Having worked in social care for many years out of a genuine love for helping people, knowing that colleagues took the time to put my name forward is deeply touching.
