The home is situated in Llanilar, just six miles from Aberystwyth, in a picturesque rural setting with several nearby walks, many of which are flat and easily accessible. The village offers a range of local amenities, including a shop, church, chapel, community centre, and senior citizens’ group. Buses run to Aberystwyth several times a day. A local doctor’s surgery, with its own dispensary, provides healthcare support, and district nurses visit the home as required to attend to nursing needs such as dressings, catheters, and blood tests. Additional surgeries are available in Aberystwyth, including Church Surgery, Ystwyth Medical Group, and Padarn Surgery.

Cysgod Y Coed Ltd has been owned by Miss Nerys Richards since October 2005, who serves as the Responsible Individual and Service Provider. The home is managed by Mrs Tegwen Richards, who holds NVQ Level 4 qualifications and has over 25 years of experience in elderly care. The Deputy Manager, Dwynwen James, has worked at the home for over 20 years and holds NVQ qualifications in adult care up to Level 4, as well as a QCF Level 5.
