8 out of 10 say older people deserve stronger rights

An ICM Poll of 1,500 people of all ages, commissioned by the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales, has demonstrated there is overwhelming support for a set of rights for older people to ensure that they are treated with dignity and respect. Separately the Commissioner has met with the Secretary of State for Wales, Cheryl Gillan, to voice the importance of attendance allowance, press for the Equality Act 2010 to be implemented for older people, and call for the new Commission on Long Term Care for England, to consider the effect on devolution and older people in Wales in its deliberations.
