Description: Ocean Community Services provide step down placements for individuals who need Tier 3 facilities within South East Wales. We currently have 10 social care homes, 1 of which also provides nursing care. Allied to this we have Beechwood College in Sully which is a residential care home catering for 38 individuals aged between 16-25 with a range of diagnosis from Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disabilities and/or Mental Health issues (functional). This college provides educational facilities for all the residents.
The philosophy of our care provision is based on the recovery model, which emphasises promoting a meaningful life, which in turn promotes a life worth living. We give people hope and support and encouragement to empower themselves to achieve their maximum potential. This involves promoting self help, taking personal responsibility, being involved in meaningful activity and gaining employment. We work with Service Users rather than doing things for them and encourage social inclusion at all times.
In March 2011 we opened the first purpose built specialist Prader Willi service in Wales. This service is unique in that a full Multidisciplinary Team is dedicated to the care and management of the clients we provide for.
