Core Functions
1.    To be part of the care team, whose aims are to ensure that residents nursing, personal and psychological needs are met on a daily basis.

2.    To help promote as much personal and physical independence and choice as possible, in the activities of daily living undertaken by the residents within the nursing home.

3.    To help maintain a stimulating and attractive environment for the residents.

4.    To assist residents in washing, dressing and undressing.

5.    To participate in the basic personal care of the residents, under the supervision of trained staff, e.g. bed-bathing, pressure area care, mouth care, eye care.

6.    To assist the residents with their toileting needs, including continence promotion.

7.    To change beds, tidy resident’s clothes and rooms and ensure all areas are kept tidy.

8.    To help in the serving of meals and drinks, feeding those residents who are unable to feed themselves and ensuring that each resident receives meals or diet that he/she has requested and is suitable for his/her care needs.

9.    Ensure all documentation is completed, e.g daily report, turning charts, meal charts, fluid balance sheets.

10. Maintain confidentiality regarding resident’s particulars.

11.  Assist in activities within the home.

12. Observe and attend call bells, and front door bell.

13. Undertake any other duties as required in order to keep the nursing home running smoothly, as delegated by the trained nurse or Manager.

14. To organize yourself as necessary within the shift according to competence and work loads, to meet identified patient care needs and priorities and to plan activities accordingly.

15. To act in accordance with the legal requirements and statutory rules relating to Nursing Homes and to ensure that all of the Home’s policies and procedures are implemented.

16.  Support new staff members with their on-job training.

17. Take part in staff and resident meeting and in training activities.

18. Attend mandatory training sessions.



The successful candidate will be a person that holds the appropriate National Vocational Qualifications and having the equivalent level of skill and experience and :

Must speak good Welsh/English and be able to communicate well.
Enthusiastic and a good team player
Enjoy helping and caring for people.
Able to work unsupervised.
Must have a clean police record
